About this blog

I re-create the odd food combos that I and others eat when no one is looking and post the results here.

A lot of these bizarre food pairings will perhaps sound revolting. But if you don't ever try them you'll never know what you're missing.

Email me if you have a curious concoction - I'll create, try and post it on these pages.

  1. Hi Tom, Big Sis here. Reckon you need some more unusual concoctions. Mum used to make this in the 1950s/60s when she and Dad were short of cash and she needed to make a cheap meal for 5 starving offspring. It must've gone out of style by the time you came along in the 1970s - too much fat - but I made it for my then boyfriend, now husband while we were impoverished university students in early 1970s. Richard calls it Tuna Fish Gunge. Make a cheese sauce, any old chedder will do. Fry up some onions, throw into sauce with tin of tuna. Cheapest tins will do. Make some mashed potato - you won't need much fat in this as the gunge has plenty, put mash on top of tuna concoction and then under grill to brown. You can always add some more grated cheese on top. It's moorishly delicious and feels very wicked in these 'cut down on your bad fat' days.
